Abia: 8 die in ghastly accident
The Abia State Sector Command of Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) has confirmed eight (8) dead in a road traffic crash occurred along Mmuri River axis on the Bende-Ohafia Road in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State on 22 December, 2024
According to a press statement by the Sector Commander of FRSC Abia State, Ngozi Ezeoma, the crash involved a Dangote Trailer carrying chippings which hit and fell on a Sharon Volkswagen vehicle with 10 persons on board.
At the time of the crash 08 persons died including a woman standing by the roadside and 03 were injured.
The injured victims were taken to the hospital while the dead ones were deposited in a morgue.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the cause of the crash was Dangerous driving and excessive speeding.
