Ashade emerges Ogun Labour Party Chairman, vows to lead Party to victory in 2023

Michael Ashade has been elected the new Chairman of Labour Party, Ogun State Chapter.

The official affirmation and inauguration of the new executive members of the party took place during its State Congress held on Sunday, 22nd May at the Press Centre, Iwe Iroyin, Abeokuta.

The newly elected executive members will run the affairs of the party in the state for the next three years.

The event witnessed a large turnout of party leaders and members across the state and a delegation of the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC as observers at the congress.

Excos taking the oath of office

To represent other stakeholders such as the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and Trade Union Congress, TUC in the new State Executive Committee of Labor Party, the Congress elected six Deputy Chairmen. They are Yinka Tokunbo Adeboye, Prince Kazeem Adesina, Chief Jagun Abiodun, Chief Ope Ijaola, Oguntola C.Y, and Olufemi Olusola.

Other elected party officials include Engr. Michael Feyisola as Secretary, Olatunde Abolade, Assistant State Secretary, Wale Okusanya, Assistant State Secretary, Mrs. Oladimeji Temidayo, State Financial Secretary Fesomade Gbadebo, Treasurer, and Olajide Amusan, State Publicity Secretary.

Others are Tosin Meadows, State Organizing Secretary, Barr. Mawah Monday, Legal Adviser, Babaseun Ogunyemi, State Auditor, Oluwabukola Soyoye, State Woman Leader, Shittu M. Adeshola, Deputy State Woman Leader, (East), Abosede Lamidi, Deputy State Woman Leader, (West), Abdulmalik O. Olaleye, State Youth Leader, Adebiyi Adekunle, Deputy State Youth Leader, Olaniyi Shobajo, Deputy State Youth Leader and Adeshina W. Shojobi, Deputy State Youth Leader.

Earlier in his address, Comrade Abayomi Oluwafemi Arabambi, the National Publicity Secretary of the party assured party faithful in attendance that Labour Party in Ogun State is being rebranded and engineered to assume its rightful position in the state.

He emphasized that the party is determined, more than ever before to contest all elective positions in the 2023 general elections and wrestle power from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in the state.

“Let me assure all of you here that come 2023, Labour Party will be the most credible, the most acceptable and the most sought after party in Ogun State.

Our party will be fielding candidates for all elective positions and electorally chase Gov. Dapo Abiodun and the ruling APC away from the governance of the state.

APC dominance will be challenged at all levels of governance and the party will not be allowed to win all the seats in the State House of Assembly, the National Assembly and governorship.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman of the party, Ashade Michael, while acknowledging the efforts of the Congress Planning Committee and the delegation of the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, also expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the election.

The new Chairman lamented the spate of poverty, unemployment and general disillusionment in the state, affirming that Labor Party, as the third force, to wrestle power from the ruling party, APC and offer Ogun State citizens a more purposeful and people oriented government that will guarantee life in abundant for all.

Ashade enjoined all members and other stakeholders of the party to close ranks, eschew rancor and embark on aggressive membership drive preparatory to ensuring success for the party in the 2023 elections in the state.

“The affirmation and innauguration of the new executive members marks the rebirth, rebranding and repositioning of Labour Party, assuring that the party will no longer be a push over in Ogun State”.
