Beneficiaries’ way of saying thank you to IBD Dende
. . . if DENDE is truly a human being like me, his parents” nutfah”, no doubt, is of different spec – 76 years old Mrs Abimbola Abiodun reacts as Dende clocks 53.
As the clock began tickling towards 11:00am on the third day of the month of March, 2022, (03/03/2022), multitudes identified as beneficiaries of kind gestures of Chief Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun’s had gathered to honour their provider of succour.
The day was his birthday, and according to Ms Janet Ewulo, the people would have no other options than to join Clerics in prayers for their benefactor.
“I am here to join men and women of God in praying for my benefactor. May God continue to protect him for us”, Ewulo prayed.
Unlike what is obtainable at many nobles’ birthday celebration, RazorTimes reports that majority in attendance were at the venue to wish the man well.
Born in 1969, Dende Ibrahim, the son of EGUNGBOHUN, native of Ebute, Yewa North LGA of Ogun State, SouthWest Nigeria, has been described as a man with human feeling who shows kindness to people of varied background.
Over the years, IBD’s birthday has turned out to be a day reserved for display of varied expressions of gratitude by mostly yester-poor who have been uplifted by Dende. Their relatives, confidants and well-wishers would as well show solidarity in wishing the greater philanthropist a longer prosperous life. 332022 – a refreshingly calm THURSDAY – was not an exception.
A 76 years old Mrs Abimbola Abiodun described Dende as the most reasonable man she ever met in her entire life.
“Dende is someone who prefers satisfying fellow human ahead of his personal interest. He wouldn’t allow anyone to be deprived of his or her right.
“If Dende is a human being like me, his parents’ ‘nutfah’, no doubt, is of different spec”, the old woman noted.
An Electrical Engineer cum entrepreneur, Mr Jimoh Ogunkanmi, commenting on a financial assistance render to one of his friends by Dende, said “now I am convinced that, that man, IBD, is a Godsent to us in this part of the world.
I am not one of beneficiaries of IBD’s kind gestures, but sincerely I can point at four persons that have had their stories changed positively through his kindness”.
Also, a popular broadcaster attested to the fact that good number of his colleagues have benefited from the generous nature of IBD.
“The man called Dende will continue to triumph over his adversaries, and he would live to satisfaction, so that God may use him to uplift more underprivileged”.
One of his neighbours said “this is a man, who will make sure those working with him have house of their own and live a good life.
“He is a man sent to us by God to liberate us from the shackles of poverty” he added.
RazorTimes reliably gathered that Alhaji Dende Egungbohun is known for humanitarian gestures; he offers uncountable scholarship of varied levels, numerous financial aid to underpriviledged, and people in dire need of relief material.
Infact, a reliable source hinted that a reasonable number of thriving businesses in the community could not have endured without IBD’s periodical widow’s myth.
Recently, IBD told our Editor that for the past five years, he has been using the money meant for repainting of his house to empower the needy.
“What will I gain if I repaints my house every year and someone somewhere can’t eat or pay children’s school fees or hospital bills.
Fakeye, I always thank God for giving me the mindset and privilege to uplift others.
“People think I am well-off, no, there are thousands of men and women, young and old, who are richer in this Yewaland, it’s just that I can’t close my eyes to people who are in dire need of affordable life changing financial assistance”, IBD confided.
RazorTimes reports that Chief Ibrahim Egungbohun some years after he left secondary school learnt and freed to practice as a Carpenter. A profession he diligently practiced at Ebute-Igbooro (Yewa North LGA, Ogun State), IBD evidently trained apprentices who graduated as practicing Carpenters.
“I left the woodwork for Freight Forwarding business which I understudied at the feet of one of the foremost Forwarder in this community in the early 90’s.
“As a licensed Freight Forwarder over time, I become one of the most reliable and trusted name that attracts bigwigs in auto business. For decades, until the coming on board of the present administration, the Federal Government of Nigeria had allowed clearing of automobiles and foreign perboiled rice through the land borders, hence the legitimacy of my registered company which primarily has been into Freight business.
“When the incumbent Comptroller General of Customs Ibrahim Hamed Ali (Rtd) resumed office, in line with the decision of the federal government in April 2016, on importation of rice through the land borders, he invited me for “an understanding”.
“As such, I didn’t see reason to do anything illegal or go against the federal government, even when on January 2017, the ban on vehicle importation through the land borders was also announced, rather, as a law abiding citizen, I shifted my focus to my other legitimate booming businesses.
“I haven’t, and can never be a smuggler as much as I wouldn’t operate outside the premises of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended)”.
Revealing the source of his fairly stable financial status, Alhaji Egungbohun said, long ago, I have learnt diversification of resources.
“More than two decades ago, while many of my contemporaries were still “sleeping”, I have judiciously diversified proceeds of my legitimate freight business into commercial farming, hospitality business, oil and gas, quarry and construction company under the following registered firm’s: IBD IMPEX Ltd, IBD Farms, IBD International Hotels, IBD Oil and Gas, and IBD Constructions.
“For those who cares to know, I have invested my profits from importation of automobiles and rice when the business was constitutional.
“When President Muhammadu Buhari through the CGC Ali (Rtd) says “stop importation of rice through the land borders, which was followed with the ban of vehicles a year after,” I have no reason to object, in the first place, as I said earlier, I have other profitable businesses that are doing well. More importantly, I have no other country than Nigeria. As a law abiding citizen, I must contribute my quota to make it work. And Nigeria will surely becomes great again!
“As for those ignorants, because I don’t see them as blackmailer; there’s no way they can blackmail me, are they not those lazy individuals who think they can make it through short cut!
It’s ignorance that makes them assumed that I am into smuggling.
“Seriously, fake news or outright lies have become one of the most debilitating force against the progress of this country, and with the way things are going, I may consider a strategic way to come in, so that, to an extent, together, we can reduce the effects of fake news in our society”, Chief Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun stated.
