Dangote Cement Ibese splashes ₦16million in scholarship on 120 Ogun students

Dangote Cement Ibese 2024 Host Community Day

Dangote Cement, Ibese, Yewa North LGA, Ogun State, Nigeria, has splashed a sum of Sixteen Million Naira only (₦16,000,000.00) in Scholarship on a total of One Hundred and Twenty (120) indigent students selected from across its seventeen (17) host communities.

The Plant Director, Mr Roy K. Uttam in his welcome address during the 2024 Host Community Day themed, “Celebrating Resilience through Effective Partnership”, held at the Lawn Court of the premises on Tuesday, 12th of December, 2024, described the entire Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) as “another testament to the existing partnership and collaboration between Ibese Plant and its distinguished and respected stakeholders.

“Today, a symbolic presentation of Scholarship award to One Hundred and Twenty (120) outstanding and indigent students will be made alongside the distribution of fifty-five (55) chest freezers to support vulnerable women in starting or expanding their businesses.

“These efforts complement a range of initiatives, including a welfare program for fifty (50) elderly individuals, the provision of Fertilizers, Pesticides, and Knapsack sprayers to Sixty (60) farmers, and other empowerment programs so far carried out in the course of year”.

Mr Uttam stressed the Company’s resolve about the Youth of the Host Communities, saying “The Youth constituency is a key focus for us as a business”, as the Company “remained committed to investing in programs and projects that help young people discover their purpose and fully realize their potential.

“Earlier this year, thirty (30) youths who completed training in shoe and leather bag making were equipped with multimillion naira starter packs.

“Another group of thirty (30) youths from the host communities are currently undergoing training in POP, screeding, and painting.

“As always, each trainee will receive tools to support their immediate startup”, Mr Uttam stated.

He expressed appreciation to the Communities, saying, “As a business, we deeply appreciate the support we have been enjoying from the different tiers of government, which are ably represented at this occasion.

“Your deliberate programs and efforts at creating enabling environment for us to flourish are well acknowledged, including your presence here today to identify with us and our host communities.

“Our desire is an unblemished relationship between the communities as well as other stakeholders and our Plant, while we hope that you would continue to reciprocate by supporting our operations”.

In his reaction on behalf of the Seventeen Traditional Rulers of the Host Communities, HRM Oba Abayomi Salako, the Aboro of Iboroland commended the goodwill of Dangote Cement, Ibese, for the provision of such beneficial CSR.

He implored the Cement Manufacturer not to rest on its oars rather continue to improve on its commitment towards developing the stakeholders.

Oba Salako equivocally implored the good people of the Host Community to cheerfully reciprocate the kindness being displayed by Dangote Cement, Ibese.
