FPI 45th Founder’s Day: President Tinubu promises improved funding, partnerships for specialized trainings, introduction of grants

The Federal Government has promised to improve its commitment to polytechnic education in the Country in the areas of funding, partnerships for specialized training programmes and introduction of grants to support graduates i
President Tinubu in his bids to enhance productivity in different sectors, boosting industrial development and ensuring sustainable economic growth gave the assurance in his speech at the 45th Founder’s Day Anniversary and the 22nd Convocation Ceremony of the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Ogun State.
Speaking through the Director of Polytechnic and Allied Institution in the Education Ministry, Dr Ejeh Usman, the President described the Polytechnic sub sector as an important operational anchor of his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly the Technical and Vocational Education and Training, TVET sector.
He promised adequate funding and infrastructural support as well as improved capital funding for the Polytechnic sub sector in the 2025 budget, coupled with the introduction of grants and partnerships for specialized training programmes to support graduates in starting businesses and meeting National needs.
In a lecture entitled ” Renewed Hope Agenda: Brain Drain and Japa Syndrome – The Way Forward” the Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun who was represented by The Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Ogunlowo recommended effective implementation of comprehensive policies to address economic instability and poor working conditions in the Country.
Mr Egbetokun also advocated more job creation initiatives, improved wages and greater investments in education as part of the measures towards addressing the rise in Japa syndrome.
Also, Governor Dapo Abiodun who was represented by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu emphasized the need for both the Federal and State governments to push reforms that would elevate Polytechnic Education and ensure that Graduates received the recognition they deserved.
Earlier while addressing the Graduating students, Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Dr Mukail Akinde encouraged the Graduating Students to leverage on the knowledge and skills acquired during their programmes and harness the available resources to drive positive change in their fields.
7,190 individuals were awarded National and Higher National Diploma Certificates at the ceremony with Miss Moses Salome from the Department of Office Technology Management emerging the overall best with Cumulative Grade Points of 3.90.
