I take solace in my supportive cousins — Egungbohun
Chief Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun (IBD Dende) has disclosed that one of his strong consolation was in the fact that his late Uncle—Otunba Ayinla Wahab Egungbohun—left behind a team of supportive children.
Speaking during the Celebration of Life held at the open space of YNLG Primary School, Ebute-Igbooro, which took place on Saturday, 28th September, 2024, said that the sudden demise of his father-figure was such that could have destabilised him but for the support of his cousins.
“I take solace in the fact that he left behind a team of supportive children as my cousins”.
Otunba Ayinla who died and laid to rest in the Islamic rites on Tuesday, 9th July, 2024 at Chief Dende Egungbohun’s maiden residence, Ebute-Igbooro, Yewa North LGA, Ogun State, “had ensured an enduring bond among all of us; sons and daughters of Egungbohun family at home and in Diaspora.
“I am happy that his biological children have grown up to become exemplaries in modesty.
“Take a look at Hon Haruna; he has been a functional legislator”, Chief Egungbohun continued, “his younger brother, Rafiu has proven his human resources management acumen to an enviable degree. Their siblings are doing proudly well also.
“Are you not moved by the orderly and dignified manner at which they treated every guests who honoured our invite?
“Take it from me; they have taken after their father in being respectful, generous, and decent as Yoruba would say, omo ti eya ba bi, eya ni i jo.
“You could say that the distinguished guests at the Celebration of Life were there to honour my cousins and I, but remember that that thing they saw in us which prompted them to honour the invite could be one or two qualities that my late Uncle had directly or indirectly helped us to imbibe.
“Truth be told, the exemplary leadership exhibited by Baba-Ode during his lifetime has necessitated the mammoth gathering.
“Talking about being a father icon and rallying point for peaceful co-existence in Yewaland, Baba-Ode was one to beat.
