MTN Predict & Win in alleged swindling
MTN’s winners of “Predict & Win” on Nigeria vs Egypt match has protested against non release of the promised gift.
The protesters who staged their protest at the NUJ Secretariat in Ogun state on the night of Tuesday, January 11, 2022, lamented the disappointed by the giant network provider.
According to PLATFORM TIMES, before the match, the MTN officials had approached football fans, promising to give mouthwatering gifts like Phones, cash to whoever predicted the exact score.
It was further gathered that many people present reportedly participated in the game while their data and information were collected.
However, it was observed that things took a new turn after the match which was won by Nigeria in a one goal match against Egypt.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that three winners who predicted that Nigeria will win the match with one goal reportedly went to the MTN officials to ask for their gift, but were, however , denied the “promised gifts”.
This, PLATFORM TIMES discovered, led to arguments between the winners and the MTN officials.
The team leader of the MTN crew simply identified as Donald allegedly zoomed off the scene some minutes before the end of the match.
The winners were Olusegun Lasisi, Oladisu Amosu, and John Omruri.
One of the winners, John Omruri who insisted on getting the promised gifts alleged that the officials of MTN reportedly cornered the expected gifts in replacement of ₦500 recharge cards.
“We went to them for our gift after the match and they told us that there is no gift available, that it was just a joke.
“After we insisted on getting our gifts by fire, by force, they now said they will give us a ₦500 recharge card.
“This is a scam!, when they know they cannot fulfill their promise, while making promises”.
In reaction, one of the MTN officials said promised gifts was not available with the crew at the NUJ secretariat.
The MTN official said the winners would have to hold on till the next Nigeria match before they can get their gifts.
