The Youth Leader of the newly sworn-in eleven-man executive of Akwa Ibom State Community (AKISCOM) in Lagos State, Comrade Otuekong Uwemobong Nsungo, has extended an olive branch to the aggrieved members of the Youth Wing of the Organisation, imploring them to sheath their swords and be open to true reconciliation and reunification.

Comrade Obong Nsungo made this call in Lagos during the weekend while delivering his inaugural speech as the newly sworn-in Youth leader of AKISCOM Lagos State.

The Youth Leader called on his fellow youths to see AKISCOM as their ultimate Umbrella through which a true brotherhood can be enjoyed, adding that “it’s only by prioritising peaceful co-existence that we can truly be happier and achieve our desired success”.

Looking back at the inception of the Youth Wing in 2015, the Leader assured his people of his aims to build on the legacies of his predecessors whom he eulogized for their selfless contributions and invaluable services which over the years have led to the growth of the Wing.

Comrade Nsungo pledged to discharge his duties as a listening Servant Leader who will always gives reasonable consideration to any advice given by his constituents.

He vowed to improve on the welfare of the Wing by joining hands with all stakeholders in the Community towards creating and bequeathing a better Youth Wing.

The newly sworn-in leader further assured his constituents that he will give his full commitment to deploying both his time and resources to the task of making a remarkable difference in the lives of the Youths and all members of AKISCOM for the desired positive change.

He enumerated his priorities among which were aggressive membership drives, unity and inclusivity, youth empowerment and welfare of the entire membership.

Also listed were what he referred to as collaborative leadership, community engagements, partnership and functional alliance with the State’s Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.

Comrade Nsungo, notwithstanding, once more appealed to all aggrieved members to join hands with his team for an overall rapid progress and growth of the Wing.

“I am again appealing to everybody who might have taken offence as a result of one thing or the other to please consider prioritising the overall interest of Akwa Ibom and join hands with this newly sworn-in exco for an overall rapid progress and growth of the Wing”.

In his speech, the new President of AKISCOM, Lagos State, Chief Edet Ambang PhD, having congratulated his officers for the victory recorded at the poll, charged them to go out to mobilise as many Akwa Ibomites as possible, resident in all the LGAs of Lagos State and bring them into the fold.

Chief Ambang stressed the need for the new leadership to bring all Indigenous Akwa Ibomites together, saying, “soon, laudable programmes and schemes will be unveiled for the benefit of our kinsmen in Lagos, especially the Youths”.

Speaking further, he lamented the paucity of funds as a potential challenge for his administration, hence calling on the Akwa Ibom State Government led by Governor, Pastor Umo Eno for a solid support.

“For a fact that AKISCOM doesn’t have access to neither grant nor allocation from the Government, this Administration is left with only the proceeds from dues and levies, which is meagrely in comparison with numerous programmes begging for urgent attention.

“Permit me to make a passionate call on our amiable and fatherly Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, whom I hereby acknowledged as having been doing so well in the State, to please replicate and extend those kind gestures to AKISCOM in Lagos State”.

Chief Ambang noted that such magnanimous intervention would go a long way in helping his Administration, expedite the implementation of programmes in time for the benefit of Akwa Ibomites in Lagos.
