Naira Marley’s lawyer learns lesson of her life

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja Hgh Court in Lagos State while giving her judgement, Friday, taught Barrister Oreagba a lesson she wouldn’t like to forget in earnest.

Oreagba was Naira Marley’s lawyer handling his internet-related fraud allegation.

After a two-year trial, Oreagba was found guilty, and handed two-year jail term for making a corrupt demand of the judge.

The judge stated that Oreagba had not debunked the utterances in a voice recording in which she was heard bragging of bribing the personnel of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with N4,000,000 to secure a manipulations of justice for Naira Marley.

However, Justice Taiwo gave Oreagba an option of a N500,000 fine, noting that the N4,000,000 had been returned to the victim.

Meanwhile, the Judge relieved Oreagba of the second offence of obtaining money under false pretense.

By pronouncing the two-year jail term and option of N500,000 fine, Justice Taiwo has taught Oreagba lesson of her life that judges assigned to cases in the Lagos State judiciary as well as law enforcement officials can’t be induced with gratification.

RazorTimes gathered that initially , Oreagba was arraigned over the alleged offence by the Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC) on November 12, 2020, before Justice Sherifat Solebo of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja Lagos.

During the trial, Justice Solebo recused herself from hearing the case and it was returned to the Chief Judge for reassignment.

The case was then reassigned to Justice Taiwo.

Oreagba was re-arraigned on the two counts and the trial commenced before Justice Taiwo in october 2022.
