NSCDC FCT Command, arrest eight suspected vandals In Abuja
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, has arrested eight (8) suspected vandals of public infrastructure in different parts of the FCT.
Parading the suspects at the Command headquarters, Wuse, Abuja, the Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, PhD, affirmed that the arrest of the miscreants is in continuation of a full scale assault against vandals in Abuja.
“These arrests came on the heels of our resolve to chase vandals out of the FCT through a renewed operational strategy and I am glad we are getting results .
“My covert operatives with the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Tactical Team (CNAI) are in town on 24 hours surveillance and monitoring to prevent any occurrence of vandalism especially at this period of the year”, he stated.
Four of the suspects were arrested at Idu Layout CITEC, Abuja, at about 2:10 am with vandalized Solar Panel Poles.
They are, Sani Garba, Male, 25 years of age, from Dambatta Local government Area of Kano State, Umar Aminu, Male, 25 years of age, from Municipal Local Government Area, Kano, Adekunle Oluwatoyin Eniola Male, 57 years of age, from Oshogbo Local Government Area, Osun state and Emmanuel John , Male, 27 years of age, from Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The remaining four suspects were nabbed along the Bannex -Gishiri axis while trying to convey already Vandalized five (5) street light poles at about 1:30 am.
Their names are; Hosea Christopher, Male, 25 years of age, from Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Ali Musa, 16 years of age, from Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State , John Sylvester , Male, 28 years of age, from Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and Idris Suleiman, Male, 19 years, Katsina Local Government Area, Katsina State.
Exhibits recovered included Five (5) Vandalized gigantic street light poles,
One (1) vandalized solar panel pole and over forty (40)pieces of iron rodes.
Investigation is still ongoing and suspects will be consequently charged to court accordingly.
Odumosu expressed anger at the level of destruction of public infrastructure by the hoodlums who have infiltrated the territory to destroy the steadily growing infrastructure that the government is providing for the citizens.
He assured the Hon Minister of the FCT, His excellency Nyesom Wike of putting a stop to the sabotage and wickedness being perpetrated on the city infrastructure on a daily basis by these criminal elements and warned them that the manhunt for vandals is still ongoing.
“We are not going to allow the efforts of the Hon Minister of FCT in infrastructural development to be sabotaged by some good for nothing individuals working against the state.
“I will continue to warn you to relocate out of the FCT because we are not backing down until vandalism is brought to an end in the Federal Capital Territory” he warned.
The FCT Commandant solicits the cooperation and assistance of the residents of the FCT in the area of credible information and intelligence to help the Corps in its fight against vandalism and other related crimes.
