OGD managed me – Ex Deputy Governor, Salmot Badru
Former Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Her Excellency, Alhaja Salmot Makanjuola-Badru, Friday, extolled the accommodating virtues of her boss, former Governor Gbenga Daniel, for his level of maturity displayed when the duo were at the helms of affairs of Ogun State.
Alhaja Makanjuola-Badru made the disclosure during a brief chat with journalists at her Laderin HillTop residence, Abeokuta, the State capital while urging residents to vote the incumbent governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for the second term comes 2023 Governorship election.
Illustrating the relationship, the Beere of Yewaland likened it to a situation where the two leaders have to give in for absolute peace to reign.
“If you study me, you will notice that what I do most is that I manage people. and I did a lot of management studies.
“He too managed me.
“That is why there wasn’t an issue of in-fighting or quarreling during our tenure and after the tenure, we becomes closer.
I believe that because God is on our side, we have been able to manage each other reasonably”, the newly installed Iya-Adinni of Yewaland stated.
The former Deputy Governor of class also proffered answer to lingering issue of fielding a Yewa man for Governor in the coming general elections when she said there is need for Ogun West people to strategise more, and desist from planning to truncate any government.
“For me, I don’t believe in truncating any government.
“Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR, is doing his best, and if we allowed him to go for the second term, then we can come in at that right time. Timing is important in whatever we are doing.
“I believe that what we need to do is to strategise more. And the strategy must be for a right time. People will say when is the right time? I belive that if we really strategise, we will know when to go for the shot.
“In addition, we need to start very early so that we don’t have to wait till towards the end or very near to the election before we start to plan.
“Our planning must be immediately after the election. Secondly, we must make friends from other senatorial which means building bridges across other districts.
“Our votes only cannot take us to anywhere. We need votes from both the Central and East of the State. We need that friendship from other two senatorial district.
“We must look at how to generate enough fund. It is not a matter matter of some millions, even few billions will not go anywhere. Infact, a billion cannot be enough for pre-campaigns activity.
“In all, we must start strategizing in time, makes friendship with other stakeholders, and gather huge amount of money“.
Speaking on the performances of the immediate successor and the incumbent government of Ogun State, HE Badru urged residents to count their blessings by looking inward, adding that the governments did their best.
“For me, I believe that Governance is a continuous process. When we came in, we went around and saw what our people needed and that was where we focused our attention on. I am sure the immediate past and current ones must have done some things, even the immediate past one must have done his beat, maybe that is not enough to the residents. But I am sure the current government has also tried.
“Let’s talk about infrastructural development going right now in the whole Ogun West. Currently, the Prince Dapo Abiodun’s government is constructing Atan – Lusada, Lusada -Agbara road. He is also constructing Ilaro-Owode road. Ado-Odo road is another construction that deserved commendation on the part of this administration.
“Immediately Governor Dapo Abiodun was sworn in, he began the construction of roads in Ota area. I was with him during the commissioning of the Ikola road that links Lagos State from Ota. And talking global standard of health institution, he has renovated nearly all the structures of Primary Health Centers and Public Schools across the 20 Local Governments in the State.
“I can confirm that the incumbent government in Ogun State has touched every part of this state. The administration is doing well.
“I am not used to condemning people. So, because I wasn’t too close to the immediate past government, I can’t say in particular what he did right or not but I am sure we were not left out totally in the area of development”, the Tube born political icon stated.
RazorTimes reports that the practicing nurse cum politician has raised many leaders since she left office in 2011 through her SMB Foundation, and has not stop sponsoring potential leaders, especially brilliant female indigents whose parents are incapable of paying their tuition fees at tertiary institution of learning.
In the year 2022 only, the former Deputy Governor (2003-2011) has been honoured with two demanding titles; Beere and Iya-Adinni of Yewaland respectively. According to the multiple titles holder, it has been about more responsibilities and activities such that on any issues concerning Ogun West, Her Excellency is always at the forefront.
