Ogun West Monarchs celebrate Sen Adeola (YAYI)@ 56, pray over Ogun Governorship bid after 49-Year Wait
In a colourful display of diversity and unity, the Yewa Traditional Council today, via interdenominational service, drew out dozens of Irukere — the revered traditional rulers’ symbol of authority — to honour Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola, fondly known as Yayi, as he turned 56.
Described as a shining light from Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Adeola was celebrated for his record-breaking developmental strides that have redefined representation in the Nigerian National Assembly.
Royal Prayers
The interdenominational service, attended by prominent monarchs, clerics, community stakeholders, and the Council as led by the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland—HRM Oba (Dr) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, MFR, Agunloye IV—was an heaven filled occasion as heartfelt prayers were graciously offered for the Senator, widely regarded as a front-runner in the 2027 Ogun State governorship race.
Ogun West has not produced a governor in the 49 years since the creation of the state. The monarchs beseeched the Good Lord in heavens to grant the Senatorial District the office of the number one citizen in the state comes 2027, praising Senator Adeola for championing the cause with humility, competence, and results.
Quoting the Paramount ruler, Oba Olugbenle said: “We, the entire Yewa Traditional Council join hands today to thank God for the life of our dear son, Senator Olamilekan Adeola, whose commitment to the progress of Ogun West is beyond question. We pray that God will grant him good health, long life, and wisdom to lead. The governorship of Ogun State, denied our people for nearly five decades, shall not pass us by in this generation”.
Developmental Strides in Ogun West and Beyond
Within the last few years of his representation in the National Assembly, Senator Adeola has facilitated impactful projects to Ogun West as well as across the State, including:
-

-
Youth empowerment programmes.
-
Small business support schemes.
These initiatives have directly benefited thousands across Ogun West and the wider Ogun State, cementing his image as a servant-leader and grassroots politician.
