Ongoing Protest: Group applauds Adeola, Egungbohun over interventions

As the entire residents of Yewaland ignored the call for protest and went on their normal businesses, a culture-oriented group, “Ketu Indigenous Society (KIS)” has deemed it fit to express their appreciation to the timely persuasions by the Senator representing the District at the National Assembly, Distinguished Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Aremo of Yewaland) known popularly as Yayi and his kinsman, the renowned businessman, Chief Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun (Olu-Omo of Yewaland) popularly referred to as IBD Dende.

The KIS leader, Prince ‘Bidemi Fabuyi who made the statement while fielding questions from pressmen on Sunday, the fourth day of August, 2024 at his Ijaka-Isale residence said, his members appreciated the selfless mindset exhibited by the noble men in expending their times and resources in persuading Yewas to shun the planned protest.

“I am happy to identify with our elder brothers and leaders in Ogun West. I mean the duos of our Distinguished Senator Yayi and Chief Dende Egungbohun (IBD Dende) for, among other things, their genuine interest in our welfares.

“I am aware that without their interventions, we might have also recorded number of casualties as a result of possible hijack of the protest as it happened in States like Katsina, Kano, Borno, Abuja and Delta.

“I can now understand why our elders said that ‘elders in the market square wouldn’t allow newborn’s head to swerve’. The elders I am referring to are not necessarily the grey-headed ones but individuals who are genuinely concerned about the wellbeing of their kinsmen”.

He noted that “considering the situation of things economically, staging any forms of protest can only rubs salt into the wound”. He therefore called on other sons and daughters of the soil to emulate the duos in using their clouts to interfere in anyways that can bring about peaceful co-existence and stability in the community.

“My advice to all of us in Yewaland is that we should continue to live in peace, use our means to facilitate and support all that is capable of bringing about peaceful co-existence and stability in our dear land. I pray God’s peace to continue be with us all”, leader Fabuyi concluded.
