Please, embrace dialogue, lay aside the protest – Chief Egungbohun begs protesters
An eminent youth-friendly community leader has beseeched both old and young intending protesters at home and abroad to lay aside the scheduled protest and embrace dialogue in view of a life-saving factor.
Chief Ibrahim Egungbohun (IBD Dende), during the weekend made the appeal at Ilaro, the OgunWest headquarters while engaging stakeholders in the Senatorial district.
The business tycoon, having acknowledged the trying period as lamented by the people, implored the planners of the proposed protest to consider the degree of woes that had befallen the poor masses during previous protests in Nigeria, begged them to embrace roundtable discussion,.
He gave assurance of an improved welfarism in no distant time as been embarked upon vigorously by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“From my experience, unlike other well-meaning nations”, Chief Egungbohun noted, “the struggling poor of the masses have always been the victims of our protests in this country as criminal minded individuals among us would definitely take over in order to loot even the poverty-stricken underprivileged in the neighborhood.
“To me, protest is natural, as Yoruba would say, ‘even the coward will fight back if overstretched’ (bá a bá sún ojo kan ògiri, á yíjú padà), however, my elders would say again in caution that ‘there’s need to be vigilant while weeping’ (bá a bá n sunkún, a máa ríran).
“Things are difficult actually, I must confess, even the seemingly wealthy among us are also weeping.
“Be that as it may, I am on my knees, begging you all to sheath your swords of the imminent protest and seek an audience with Mr President for a lasting and monitorable solution, please”, Chief Ibrahim Egungbohun conciliated.
