Senator Adeola charges journalists on ethical practices for national progress
The Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Olamilekan Adeola, has called on journalists to remain focused in upholding the truth and standard ethical practices in the interest of national peace, unity and progress.
Senator Adeola made the call on Sunday, November 9, 2025 during an interaction with members of the League of Yewa-Awori Media Practitioners, led by the National Coordinator, Otun-Baaroyin Abu-Satar Hamed.
The Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations who cautioned media professionals against misinformation and sensationalism lamented the damaging effects of spreading false or negative information on the society.
The Senator described the media as a vital agent of development, acting as the eyes and ears of the people, urging the stakeholders to remain committed to factual, balanced, and objective reporting, especially in the digital age.
Senator Adeola reaffirmed his commitment to effective representation for sustainable socio-economic development in Ogun West and the entire state, expressing optimism that the collective efforts of the people, anchored on truth and responsible journalism would strengthen good governance.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Otun-Baaroyin Hamed, had commended Senator Adeola for his people-oriented programmes and developmental achievements, describing him as a model of responsive leadership.
He said the League of Yewa-Awori Media Practitioners was established to promote unity, responsible journalism, and quality development in the State and nationwide.
