Sexual & Gender-Based Violence Month: NSCDC Lagos boss charges residents to report incident

The Lagos State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cmdt Adedotun Sunday Keshinro has charged Lagos residents to report any incident of sexual and Gender-based violence.

Commandant Keshinro disclosed this in a short video made available to journalists by the Command’s PRO, DSC Oluwaseun Abolurin on Sunday, September 1, 2024, making public his decision not to allow any acts of gender-based violence taking place “under his watch”.

Charging the entire residents to join in the campaign against Sexual & Gender Based Violence (SGBV), Commandant Keshinro said, “Security is not just about protecting physical boundaries, it is about securing the safe and security of every citizens.

“At the NSCDC, we know that the true measure of security is how we protect the vulnerable among us.

“As we observe, the Domestic & Sexual Violence Awareness Month, it’s crucial that we stand together to fight against Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV). Every one of us has a role to play as our homes, schools and communities are safe spaces.

“I urge every citizens and everyone to take part in this campaign not just as a gesture but as a declaration that we will not abuse in any form.

“Our collective vigilance can make the difference together. We can ensure that no one suffers in silence and every act of violence is met with swift and decisive action”, the Commandant concluded.
