Tell Dende, I’ve died – Hon Egungbohun recalls his father’s instruction one minute to his death
The Lawmaker representing Ketu II State Constituency at the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon Haruna Wahab Egungbohun has revealed his father’s last instructions to him.
Hon Haruna, during the Fidau prayer held at the Egungbohun family house, Igbo-Atan, Ebute-Igbooro, Yewa North LGA, Ogun State, on Tuesday, 16th June, said, he was shocked when his father rejected his pleas to take him to the nearest hospital for immediate medical attention.
“My father told my siblings and I bluntly that it’s a death time not illness.
“He said that he was of age enough to read between the lines: to differentiate between death and illness.
“My father instructed me to take proper care of my siblings.
“He prayed for God’s protection over us.
“He said, tell Dende, I have died! All those instructions he passed while on his feet in his room.
“I saw valour in him. My father was not perturbed about what was befalling him. He comported himself, assured us that he was getting better. And he drank water, and said, let me rest.
“We noticed that sooner than he rested his head on the pillow, he became lifeless. Despise all our efforts, weeping and mourning, he wouldn’t return to life”.
“My conclusion is that he was at peace with his maker, such that he was able to bid us farewell, even when he was dying, in his about last sixty seconds, he could say, tell Dende, I have died. To me, it would remain one of the most remarkable mystery of life”, Haruna submitted.
Hon. Haruna Wahab Egungbohun in his vote of thanks expressed appreciation specially to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his condolences and support, as well as members of State Executives.
He thanked the Honourable Speaker Rt Daisi Elemide who led the State Legislature to the burial, as well as everyone who offered support in one way or the other during the trying moments.
“We so much appreciate your supports in all ramifications”, the Lawmaker began, “we pray that whoever must die should be full of years, amen.
“During my electioneering, my father was alive. Now that he’s gone, may I crave your indulgence not to disown me. I will continue to appreciate your supports.
“My siblings and I, families and relatives, notwithstanding, are consoled in the fact that our caring father had lived a worthwhile life, such that, in the last eight days, uncountable were testimonies of his humanity”, Hon Haruna Wahab Egungbohun remarked.
