Yayi: Chronicling the Antics of his detractors 

Just like the cries of ancient Isrealites as chronicled by Bible the holy book reached the heavens and God heard their cries and prepared a Moses to lead them out their pharaonic bondage in ancient Egypt, the cries of the people of Ogun West reached the abode of the Almighty God in heaven and like in the case of the Isrealites, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi was divinely prompted to leave the comfort of his achievements in the political terrain of Lagos State that was still very promising for the uncertainty of Ogun West and Ogun State politics.

Immediately he made his intention to return to his roots in Ogun West and to contest elections as representative of the people of Ogun West known, modern day Pharaohs evolved. They were joined by traducers Dathans, Korahs and Abirams just like in the case of Moses who had held the people of Ogun West down for decades since the creation of Ogun State in political bondage. Insolently they were against the coming of a liberator that God has designed Yayi to be for the marginalized and very oppressed people of Ogun West.

A people the political Pharaohs have never allowed to benefit from their votes and sweats on the political terrain of Ogun State and Nigeria at large. A people whose votes have never worth more than few grinding machines and Okada in the hands of the modern day Dathans, Korahs and Abirams and traducing Pharaohs leading then. Ogun Westerners before the coming of the political liberator Yayi have lost to the machinations of the political Pharaohs, Dathans, Korahs and Abirams combined, their power to believe and their hope of ever making it to the promise land of Okemosan. That and even worse was the case in the land of Ogun West from way back.

Together they formed a force of retrogression against a very progressive man on a mission to place Ogun West rightly among comity of senatorial districts not only in Ogun State but in Nigeria as a whole. Chronicling their retrogressive choruses, they began with a hell inspired song that Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi is not original to Yewaland of Ogun West.

In their discordant tunes, some sang that he was from Ondo, others were claiming he came from Ekiti. Where in Ekiti they could not say, location in Ondo they could not tell.

They lost the battle, their discordant tune did not sell, Onibata family of Pahayi, Ilaro embraced their son and the entire kings who are fathers of Yewaland identified Yayi as their son. He was beaded by them as Aremo of Yewaland.

Not giving up and in their readiness to keep failing they said he did not know the problem of the land and would not be able to fix the problems. Then the sane majority asked the conspirators, why they that grew up in the land and also grew up with the problems were not able to fix the problems till the coming of Yayi? That question killed their astern narrative.

Not only that question, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi himself began to uplift the living standard of the people with different levels of empowerment programmes for the youths, women and men of the land even when he was yet to owe the people a single vote.

When the election that gave the Senate seat to Senate Adeola was approaching. The Pharaohs, Dathans Korahs and Abirams went to town telling people not to vote Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi into office as Ogun West Senator claiming that in the case he wins, he would run away with Ogun West mandate back to Lagos without delivering on the mandate in Ogun West. Of course the now very wise Ogun West electorate went ahead and voted Senator Adeola in as Ogun West Senator in the 10th National Assembly.

Less than a year into his first term in office as the representative of Ogun West in the Senate, close to 100 developmental projects that are very critical to growth are scattered across Ogun West Senatorial District. All facilitated by the same Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi that the Pharaohs, Dathans Korahs and Abirams said would elope with Ogun West Mandate.

For the record, it is Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi that first wrote it in the political consciousness of the people of Ogun West that a representative of the district in National Assembly is capable of facilitating complete road projects. It is on record that Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi disabused the minds of the good people of Ogun West and put them in the know that their votes and the drops of their sweat at polling centres are worth far more than pepper grinding machines and some okadas.

Today, less than a year into a four year term as Senator representing Ogun West, the good people of Ogun West has well built hospitals, perfectly asphalted roads, ultra modern halls, large capacity pavilion, hospital ICU centre, standard school blocks of classrooms, libraries as capital projects to show for believing in the candidacy of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi then, for trusting in his unique selling proposition which was experience against the lies, propaganda of the political Pharaohs, the Dathans, Korahs and Abirams of Ogun West.

In their defeated state, the detractors are still kicking feebly, trying the act that had failed them repeatedly against a man on a mission. Now that Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi has nailed them down to their defeated state permanently with his unparalleled and excellent performances and after all their past songs and retrograde narratives have been rejected by the people of Ogun West, they left those who did not perform and those not performing to be criticising Senator Yayi a performer that has been delivering excellently on his mandate bringing home unprecedented level of democratic dividends to his constituents.

Good gracious, the responses of the people even far beyond Ogun West to the latest song of regression by the detractors claiming that Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi is personalizing Federal Government funded projects are not going in favour in favour of the Pharaohs, Dathans, Korahs and Abirams but in favour of the performer, Yayi who is determined to use the mandate of the people, given to him by the people for the benefit of the people. That is what democracy dictates.

What do the detractors really mean by saying the Ogun West Senator personalized FG funded projects? If facilitating over 70 critical infrastructural projects to Ogun West by Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi in less than six months in office is what the detractors mean by the word personalizing, if awarding scholarship and bursary to close to 2000 students of Ogun West at a go is what personalizing means in the lexicon of the Pharaohs, Dathans, Korahs and Abirams, if giving support fund to 5000 market women and men is the meaning of personalizing FG projects, if empowering 15000 youths and artisans in one single swoop by Senate Adeola is what the detractors mean by saying he personalized projects, Ogun West people would want the personalizing to continue and of course the rest of Ogun State who have already been eyeing the development in Ogun West would want same.

Considering the level of catch up in terms of development that Ogun West has to do, one would have expected that no one in Ogun West would not applaud the performances of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi, the human capital development and infrastructural.

For a faceless group to emerge accusing the Senator of personalizing Federal Government funded project is not only appalling but very sickening. Anyway, it is so good to see that the good people of Ogun West are now wiser and have refused to be fooled. “Go on, keep doing your thing, you are doing” have been responses from Ogun Westerners across different divides to Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi.

Clearly, the performing Senator has defeated the traducers’ latest antics. The right move for all Ogun Westerners right now should be to encourage Senator Adeola on his mission to reposition Ogun West and to work together with him for the betterment of our senatorial district.
