Yewa Traditional Council receives IGP Egbetokun amid high euphoria
. . . as Chief Egungbohun extols IGP Egbetokun’s community engagement
HRM Oba Kehinde Olugbenle led Yewa Traditional Council on Wednesday received the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NP, at the Asade Agunloye IV palace in Ilaro, Ogun State.
The IGP, flanked by Police principal officers among who were Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Olatoye Durosinmi and the State Commissioner of Police (CP) Abiodun Alamutu, was in the State on a 3-day official visit to interact with critical stakeholders in the Gateway State.
Appreciating the Police Chief, the chief host, on behalf of Yewa Traditional Council, expressed heartfelt appreciation, assured “the Pride of the Land” of a continuous support to the police officers and formations across Yewaland.
Chief Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun, a Peace Advocate and Community Leader, in a brief chat with press men described the IGP as a super cop with high intel and capacity for coordination and management of a sensitive institution like the Nigerian Police.
The Oluomo of Yewaland, noted that in the last ten months of Egbetokun’s leadership of the Nigerian Police, there have been remarkable improvement in the pattern of operation and police-civil relations.
He also commended the IGP on what he termed effective modern policing system, which according to him encapsulates community engagement and local intelligence gathering mechanism which has punched a bigger blow to the uprising cases of banditry and kidnapping across the country.
“We are very elated to welcome our illustrious son and a super cop of high repute home and to the Yewa Traditional Council led by the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, HRM Oba Kehinde Olugbenle MFR, the Asade Agunloye IV, as he visits the State on 3-day working visit.
“I want to say that IGP Kayode Egbetokun have been a dependable and reliable compatriot and a capable Police Chief that possesses the requisite intelligence, capacity and strategy to strengthen the Nigerian security architecture and ensure stability and sustainable peace”, Chief IBD Dende Egungbohun stated.
The IGP in his remark disclosed according to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, mnipr, mipra, fCAI, that the IGP Egbetokun pronounced the establishment of a Police Mobile Force base in the Ogun West Senatorial District to subdue the influx of criminals and bandits into Ogun state and Nigeria by extension via the borders in those areas.
Notable sons of Yewaland who were in attendance to honour the IGP were Aremo of Yewaland, Distinguished Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), Apagunpọ̀tẹ̀ of Yewaland, Ọ̀túnba Akeem Adigun (Socopao), Aṣíwájú Titus Babajide (Oppressor), Asoju-Oba of Ilaro, Chief Muftau Olabimtan, and host of prominent individuals.
