Ogun Govt charges industries on strict compliance with regulations

A call has gone to Industries across the State to ensure compliance with the State’s Environmental Protection Regulations aimed at reducing pollution and improving quality of life.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA), Alhaji Farouk Akintunde, gave the charge in Abeokuta, while on a 3-day visit to Industries across the 3 zones of the agency.
Akintunde said the visit was necessary in order to know the challenges the Industries were facing with respect to its core mandate.
Accompanied by Directors in the agency, he called for environmental compliance in their production activities, as well as mutual understanding between them and their immediate communities.
The OGEPA boss admonished them to embark on tree planting in order to combat climate change and improve the quality of life.
Akintunde further appealed for closer collaboration between the agency and the industries, saying officers of the agency should be given access to their facilities whenever they are on inspection.
In their separate responses, the Consultant, Ganfeng Lithium Limited, Mr. Akeem Akindele and Production Manager, Hayat Kimya Nigeria Limited, Mr. Rasak Sulaimon, said efforts were put into training of staff for improvement in implementation of the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), towards ensuring a conducive environment and protection of staff.
