Veteran human rights defender and philanthropist, Otunba Ephraim Lana Akintan, on Monday, August 18, 2025, commissioned the permanent office of the Otunba Lana Akintan Human Rights Foundation (OLAKHUF) in Oja-Odan, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The event, which doubled as the highlight of his 96th birthday celebration, was described as a landmark initiative dedicated to protecting the rights of the oppressed, promoting justice, and safeguarding human dignity.

The Human Rights Foundation was first inaugurated in 2024 during his 95th birthday celebration. Now, with a permanent office, the Foundation is set to expand its reach in championing the rights of the downtrodden and amplifying the voices of the voiceless.

Speaking at the commissioning, Otunba Akintan reaffirmed his lifelong dedication to human rights:

“I have spent my life defending human rights, and at 96, my desire is to see this work live on through the Foundation. I implore the Board of Trustees led by Mr. Abiodun Ogundipe to use every resource at their disposal to defend the oppressed and give voice to the voiceless. Our people can rest assured that this Foundation will stand as their defender.”
